PWHT Technician Vacancy

Electrical Heat Treatment services for components used in power generation, refining, and petrochemical industries. Employs both Electric and Gas techniques to achieve desired results for different applications.

Follows instructions and pre-established guidelines in order to complete work activities. May assist a Senior Technician on various projects.

Kvalifikatsioonid

PWHT Technician responsibilities involve performing electrical and mechanical heat treatment services for components used in refining, power, construction and petrochemical industries. This involves heating components normally to extreme temperatures to achieve specific results such as hardening or softening of material. This position assists Senior Technicians in carrying out projects associated with providing industrial maintenance services as well as supporting clients and coworkers throughout the day.

Field duties will be carried out at various job sites throughout the region, which may involve indoor and outdoor work in plant environments, with some interaction among crew members, supervisors, client personnel, as well as frequent travel to/from job sites daily.

Qualified candidates will possess formal PWHT Technical Certification as well as four to five years of field experience working with both Electric & Gas PWHT equipment, acquired through on the job training, courses completed, and taking PWHT technical tests.

PWHT Technicians will have many responsibilities, from identifying problems to suggesting solutions and troubleshooting equipment and processes, creating documentation, assisting with inspections and providing inspection reports. An ideal candidate will also be team player capable of following oral/written direction as well as understanding engineering drawings/instructions.

Experience

PWHT is an integral component of welding processes, used to relieve residual stresses that combine with load stresses to exceed design limits of materials and cause weld failure or fractures if left uncontrolled. A field heat treatment technician oversees heating and cooling cycles in order to achieve this result.

Ability to read and interpret instructions, documentation and engineering drawings is of utmost importance for success in any position. In addition, being able to work away from home for extended periods is also critical.

PWHT technicians should be capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously and be flexible enough to adjust their schedules as necessary. Furthermore, they must work well with different people and understand how their actions impact project outcomes. PWHT Technicians must complete tasks on time while adhering to safety guidelines when working outdoors.

Skills

PWHT (Pressure Wash Heat Treatment) is used to regulate the heating and cooling cycles of components and materials in order to achieve desired results such as hardening or softening. This job is commonly carried out on site for power, petrochemical, oil & gas industries – performing preheating, postweld heat treatment, pressure testing of pipelines as well as preheating pre-weld heat treatments on them for pressure testing pipelines are some of the duties performed by PWHT technicians who must also read instruction manuals as well as perform various clean-up and housekeeping duties as part of this task.

As part of the fabrication process for pipe fabrication, residual stress accumulates in weld material. If this combined with load stresses exceed its design limit and cause weld failures, Post-Weld Heat Treatment (PWHT) may reduce these stresses while providing additional safety margins – while not mandatory in all welds but often improve quality, safety, and performance.

Assistant Electrical HTT Technicians support Senior Technicians and other employees in providing Heat Treat Services for various projects under various conditions. They must uphold TEAM’s Core Values and 7 Critical Choices while carrying out daily tasks associated with providing industrial maintenance services, including prepping equipment for work, conducting job walks with Senior Technicians and documenting services provided.

Education

PWHT (Pre-Weld Heat Treatment) technicians must possess both an official technical certificate as well as a keen interest in the industry and be willing to travel worldwide for this job. PWHT, or Pre-Weld Heat Treatment, is essential in protecting structures from structural failure caused by residual stresses combined with load stresses that exceed design limits of materials, which can result in weld failures, increased cracking potential or brittle fracture. A PWHT technician’s duties involve controlling heating and cooling rates to achieve optimal results while also ensuring compliance with welding codes and standards, working under instructions from managers or supervisors and reporting back up with managers or supervisors on reports back.
